I'll post any solid TV shows, games, etc I spot here. I'm always hunting for obscure and interesting things so you'll get a big variety from me.
To start, I'll recommend a few TV shows. Maniac is a great example of retrofuturism and dystopia, where disjointed and mentally ill people participate in shady clinical drug trials in hopes of avoiding therapy and human connection.
Haunting of hill house is a good Halloween series. It avoids a lot of the clichés that most "Haunting" Shows and movies seem to favour and does quit a bit with. the series seems to be inspired a bit by Stephen King's IT, and the setting is taken from an old school horror novel, but manages to be quite unique.
Now for some games: If you where a fan of EarthBound, You'll love LISA: The painful. Though, you should be ready for some very dark themes and humour. Much of the story and game itself is a bit darker and more graphic than Earthbound had been. However, the game features a cast of complex and unique characters, each with different stories, personalities, and abilities. By the end of the game, you'll likely be in tears. (Don't laugh at me!) But let's be honest, despite the poor graphics and slightly above gameplay, the characters and story moved me more than most games can, making it one of my favourite games of all time.
Another great indie game that digs deep into cyberpunk is Observer, where you play as a special branch of the polish police that can hack into human memories. One night, you find yourself quarantined in a dark and run down apartment, where you find hints about what happened to your long lost son...
And a long time favourite of mine and a very unique sci-fi game, SOMA, which is made by the very same people who crafted the groundbreaking Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Soma is, in my opinion, one of the best game ever, truly a work of art. The game touches deeply on subjects that involve the definition of being human and what is considered alive and what is not. It's deeply emotional and the few important characters are extremely complex. Definitely a staple of sci-fi.
